Star+ wasn't a rebrand or a repackage. It was a new product — designed, built, and launched from zero for Latin America.
Disney needed a home for everything that wasn't Disney+ in Latin America — live sports from ESPN, general entertainment, and locally produced originals across 18 countries. The answer wasn't to stretch Disney+. It was to build something entirely new.
We conducted foundational research to understand regional preferences rather than simply adapting existing platforms. The result was a product designed from the ground up for Latin American audiences — with innovations in live sports, localization, and content discovery that were later adopted by Disney+ globally.
Infrastructure deployed in São Paulo and the United States. Internally-developed stream encoding. Redundant systems to minimize latency and prevent social media spoilers. Support for Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and English — simultaneously.
