ClassPass · 2017–2019

The first interactive at-home workout.

Live-streamed. Heart rate tracked. Leaderboard ranked.

Fitness before the fitness revolution.

We built a live, interactive, biometric-connected workout platform in 2018 — years before the pandemic made at-home fitness a billion-dollar category.

Timeline 2017 – 2019

Studio fitness had three things at-home workouts didn't: accountability, interactivity, and immersion. I led the product development of ClassPass Live from concept to launch — identifying and selecting Wahoo as our heart rate monitor partner, designing the consumer experience, and running user research and testing through rollout.

The result: live instructors from a custom-built Brooklyn studio, a biometric-connected heart rate monitor that personalized every workout, and a real-time leaderboard that turned every class into a competition.

Studio intensity. Living room convenience.

Live leaderboard. Real-time biometrics. Every class is a competition.

ClassPass Live user experience

Built for broadcast. Designed for your living room.

We built a custom production studio in Brooklyn with a 360-degree camera setup and no visible crew — creating an immersive in-studio experience for at-home participants. Every detail of the live production was designed to make the screen disappear and the workout feel real.

ClassPass Live Wahoo heart rate monitor

Biometric-connected fitness.

Every ClassPass Live subscriber received a custom Wahoo heart rate monitor. The system personalized target zones based on your age, weight, and fitness level — then scored you in real-time against everyone else in the class. The instructor could see your effort. The leaderboard made it public.
